Great Starter for Performances
"So here's the thing - this isn't a katana that's going to be cutting ninjas in half. The most damage it could do is scraping some paint off the walls if you're like me and enjoy practicing in the basement. But that's what it's for - practice, not the paint thing. If you're looking for a masterfully crafted Hattori Hanzo katana for 200 dollars, you're dreaming big. If you're looking for a quality piece of practice equipment for performances or to practice iai draws and sheathing in a simple saya, this is bang on."
Great For Competitions
"Looking at the poopoo reviews, I wanted to get on here and give a 5 star rating to counter them. I purchased this sword for my son after he trained and competed with an all wooden one for over a year. The weight is a little heavier than the all wood one, but you gotta practice with this to build the muscle. I agree with the other comment about the X-guard being difficult during hand rolls. My son countered that by giving a little toss and then catch to avoid the guard. To the sword diva that says this is the cheapest quality, I would say that it is not a real sword. It is not sharpened, nor able to be sharpened. It is best for competition forms. I will agree that the chrome is easily scratched by hard surfaces, so I only let my son practice in the grass outside or on padded surfaces. It has held up well to being dropped, and hasn't become loose from the grip. It looks good in tournaments. If you're a sword collector you might consider looking elsewhere. Although I will agree that this price could come down by at least $50 from the $200. To the other person that said most parents don't want to spend $200 on a sword, I agree. I didn't either, but this became my son's weapon of choice and after seeing his dedication to improving with his wooden sword (and after he borrowed an XMA Xtreme and won that competition!) we decided to make the purchase. The only downside is that he's growing taller and now wants to perform with 2 swords..."
Great for XMA competition
"Great sword for creative/ extreme forms! Watch out for the X-shaped cross guard; it's painful during hand rolls. Please be aware, as another reviewer seemed to miss the point, this sword is NOT made for striking anything. Very solid construction and materials."
Cheapest made sword ever seen
"The product is garbage I collect swords and a friend bought this for her son not knowing after seeing the lack of craftsmanship this is a rip off bottom line the makers should be ashamed"
